Our team brings a wealth of experience that ensures our clients achieve measurable improvements in their operational output. In addition to our consulting services, we develop innovative software products designed to support and sustain the improvements in production and productivity.
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Mining Engineer Consultant to join our team and help open-pit mine sites around the world improve efficiency, productivity, and overall performance through data-driven insights and practical engineering expertise.
About this role:
The Mining Engineer Consultant plays a key role in helping open-pit operations reach their full potential. In this role, you will assess mine performance, analyze production data, and identify opportunities to optimize equipment utilization, dispatching, and short-term planning. You’ll work closely with supervisors, dispatchers, and site leadership to develop solutions that drive measurable performance gains and long-term improvement.
This is a hands-on role that blends technical analysis with operational engagement. You’ll bring structure and insight to daily operations, help teams act on performance data in real time, and ensure that improvements are embedded sustainably within the operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- • Conduct operational assessments of open-pit mine sites to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- • Analyze production and fleet performance data to develop actionable recommendations for optimizing haulage, loading, and dispatch activities.
- • Collaborate with site teams to enhance short-term planning, shift execution, and compliance-to-plan performance.
- • Support the implementation of operational improvement programs such as Short Interval Control (SIC) and Advanced Dispatch optimization.
- • Work with Fleet Management Systems (FMS) to validate data accuracy and ensure it supports decision-making and productivity analysis.
- • Facilitate coaching and training sessions with site engineers, dispatchers, and supervisors to embed operational best practices.
- • Prepare clear, data-driven reports and presentations that communicate findings, results, and improvement opportunities.
- • Build and maintain strong relationships with client teams through collaboration, transparency, and technical credibility.
Client Delivery Focus:
- • Ensure all recommendations are grounded in operational reality and aligned with client goals and production targets.
- • Support on-site deployment of improvement programs, including system setup, performance analysis, and team training.
- • Help clients translate data insights into practical, measurable performance outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Required Skills
- • Analytical and Practical: Skilled at interpreting FMS and production data to identify trends, constraints, and opportunities for improvement.
- • Operationally Minded: Strong understanding of open-pit mining processes, including haulage, loading, and equipment dispatching.
- • Collaborative Partner: Works effectively with cross-functional site teams to solve problems and drive lasting change.
- • Strong Communicator: Able to present technical insights clearly to both field personnel and management teams.
- • Data-Driven: Comfortable using data visualization tools and operational KPIs to guide decisions and recommendations.
- • Results-Focused: Keeps improvement goals in focus and ensures recommendations lead to measurable operational gains.
- • Adaptable and Resourceful: Thrives in dynamic site environments and adjusts approach to meet client and operational needs.
Qualifications
- • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- • 5–10 years of experience in open-pit mining operations, mine planning, or operational improvement roles.
- • Strong understanding of open-pit fleet management, dispatching, and productivity optimization.
- • Familiarity with Short Interval Control (SIC), Lean, or other operational excellence frameworks is an asset.
- • Proven ability to analyze large operational datasets and present clear, actionable insights.
- • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- • Proficiency in French or Spanish is considered an asset.
