Outliers Mining Solutions is offering an exciting opportunity to be part of a leading provider of mining-specific operations and technology consulting services that increase productivity and reduce costs at our clients’ operations around the globe. We deliver Comprehensive Assessments, Value Added Dispatch programs, OMS Performance Management programs, OMS Asset Management programs, Mine Supervisor Coaching services, Technology Strategy and Business Improvement training programs that give our clients the tools to successfully transform their mining operations.

You will be part of a small, specialized team that work to identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions that rapidly close the performance gaps. Together, our team of mining and technology subject matter experts and continuous improvement practitioners provide solutions and execute improvement programs that realize a sustainable, step-change increase in performance. Position Purpose


Under the direction of the Project Lead the Operational Consultant is accountable to develop, implement and support the OMS performance management tools which include (not limited to):


  • Short interval controls
  • Operator scorecards
  • Process improvement in mine operations, mine planning and engineering

Duties & Responsibilities


Key responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Project Lead the Operational Consultant is accountable to develop, implement and support the OMS performance management tools which include (not limited to):

  • Adhere to OMS Vision and Values
  • Dedicate 10% of time towards business development
  • Conduct analysis for improvement opportunities of mine operations;
  • Create short interval controls, operator scorecards and other reports and dashboards;
  • Coaching of client personnel on the effective use of the performance management tools and overall framework
  • Implement visual management process;
  • Provide improvements to mine planning process including:
    a. Reconciliation of planned to actuals
    b. Development of inputs and templates into the mine planning process.
  • Lead improvement projects for mining processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve OMS tools and service offerings
  • Attend and present at conferences to promote the OMS brand and service offerings
  • Account for time and expenses on a monthly basis.
  • Adhere to document management and version control standards
  • Compliance to all OMS standards and policies
  • Participate in OMS marketing efforts through blog posts and networking
  • Lead and/or support internal OMS initiatives


Other responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.




  • Must possess knowledge of mine planning process, mine operations and business planning.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Desirable skills include Minitab, Tableau and Microsoft SQL.
  • Proficiency in mine planning software packages an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex business and/or technical documents. Ability to write comprehensive reports and detailed business correspondence.
  • Ability to work with groups of people such as other departments and communicate known concepts.
  • Ability to present to a group of departments.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages an asset.



  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mining Engineering with a minimum of 10 year(s) experience is preferred. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration. Experience in Mine Operations roles is highly desirable as part of overall professional experience.

Work Environment


  • Travel to client sites required (approx. 40%). Variable work environments including arctic, desert, high altitude and tropical environments (including Camp accommodation).
  • When not at client sites, candidate’s work will be completed from home office.
