Who We Are:
Outliers Mining Solutions is a globally recognized consultancy specializing in mine operations optimization. Our team brings a wealth of experience that ensures our clients achieve measurable improvements in their operational output. In addition to our consulting services, we develop innovative software products designed to support and sustain the improvements in production and productivity.
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Mine Operations Leader to join our team and drive meaningful improvements in productivity and efficiency through real-time coaching and performance support.
About this role:
The Mine Operations Leader plays a key role in bringing Short Interval Control (SIC) to life on site. In this role, you will work directly with supervisors and front-line leaders to interpret SIC data, identify performance gaps, and guide teams toward practical, sustainable improvements. You’ll help translate data into meaningful insights that support real-time decision-making and ensure that those insights are acted upon consistently throughout each shift.
This role is hands-on and collaborative. You’ll be in the field supporting crews, reinforcing best practices, and helping leaders develop the confidence to manage proactively. Your work will focus on embedding SIC processes, strengthening communication between teams, and ensuring every shift ends closer to plan. By combining coaching, operational awareness, and a commitment to continuous improvement, you’ll play a vital part in helping sites achieve measurable performance gains.
Key Responsibilities:
- • Capture site context and document operational practices to support the deployment of Short Interval Control (SIC) programs.
- • Analyze SIC data and outputs to identify performance gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- • Facilitate coaching sessions with supervisors and front-line leaders to help embed SIC principles and drive day-to-day performance improvements.
- • Support the implementation of new operational processes and change management initiatives to ensure lasting adoption.
- • Reinforce the site “Playbook,” Visual Management cadence, and daily review processes that sustain focus and accountability.
- • Build strong relationships with field teams to foster collaboration, trust, and continuous learning.
- • Observe shift execution and provide constructive feedback to help teams translate SIC insights into real-time action.
- • Collaborate closely with FMS Specialists and operational coaches to align system data with shift-level decision-making.
- • Track progress, document lessons learned, and share best practices across teams to promote ongoing performance improvement.
Client Delivery Focus:
- • Bridge the gap between operational realities and SIC data to create actionable insights.
- • Deliver one-on-one coaching sessions that strengthen leadership capability and reinforce site improvement priorities.
- • Support the rollout of new operational standards, tools, and processes through clear communication and practical guidance.
- • Build credibility through responsiveness, consistency, and hands-on support in the field.
- • Help ensure site teams sustain the value of SIC long after deployment through continuous engagement and follow-up.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Required Skills
- • Operational Understanding: Strong grasp of open-pit or underground mining operations, including how daily plans, shift execution, and team coordination impact production performance and operational outcomes.
- • Communication Skills: Communicates clearly and confidently, helping teams understand performance insights and apply them in real time.
- • Empathetic Coach: Understands the realities of site life and builds trust through respect, patience, and practical guidance.
- • Observant and Insightful: Quickly recognizes patterns in performance and behavior, offering timely, actionable feedback.
- • Improvement-Focused: Keeps the goal front and center, helping teams make better decisions, achieve plan compliance, and improve shift performance.
- • Structured yet Flexible: Uses established frameworks and tools to guide coaching, while adapting to site conditions, personalities, and operational realities.
- • Driver of Accountability: Reinforces ownership of KPIs, ensuring follow-through on commitments and timely action to sustain improvement momentum.

- • Strong understanding of open-pit or underground mining processes, including shift planning, production tracking, and equipment utilization.
- • Proven experience supporting operational improvement programs such as Short Interval Control (SIC) or other performance management frameworks.
- • Comfortable working in fast-paced mine environments and collaborating with field teams to implement practical solutions.
- • Experience facilitating coaching sessions, training workshops, or daily review meetings is an asset.
